In a stern action against the accused Beto Zhimomi, who was allegedly involved in the rape and murder of late Avino, a resident of Kirha village July 21, the Chekiye Village Council (CVC) Sunday said it has resolved to excommunicate the accused for life with immediate effect and that the accused shall not be allowed to inherit any property within the jurisdiction of Chekiye village.
CVC chairman Toiho Yeptho, secretary Nihoto Awomi and Chekiye village head GB C.Hokhupu Zhimo, in a press release, said the decision to excommunicate the accused was taken at an emergency meeting of CVC and GBs held August 20. Strongly condemning the “heinous and barbaric” act of the accused Beto Zhimomi, son of Khehoto Zhimomi, resident of Alatosah, Chekiye village, the village authorities said such “monstrous” act did not have place in the society and such hideous act shall not be tolerated at all. Meanwhile, the CVC lauded the special investigation team, Dimapur police, SDPO Shouka Kakheto and ASI Inaka Kinimi, who “incidentally” hailed from Chekiye village, for apprehending the accused.
Further, the CVC affirmed its “fullest cooperation” to the government and all responsible in brining the culprit to justice. The village council and GBs have expressed “deepest” condolences to the bereaved family.
