The high pass percentage in HSLC exam result this year proved education in the state is becoming more competitive, L. Temjen Jamir Advisor, NBDA said on Saturday.
Students should have a vision, he said and quoted the popular proverb ‘All that glitters are not Gold’, while comparing with the few Nagas that excel in academics in spite of thousands of Naga students enrolled in Colleges and Universities.
Jamir said this while addressing the Phom Students’ union Kohima (PSUK) 21st Freshers’ meet cum general session held at State Academy hall.
He also shared his happiness with the students stating that Longleng district has recorded the lowest percentage of elementary school dropouts in the state with just 3.5%.
Addressing the occasion as guest of honour, general secretary, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), Changsang Chang said Eastern Nagas once lived in ignorance, adding the student community should wake up and compete with the rest of the world.
He said ENSF was just a superficial platform for the student community of the four backward districts as it looked after the grievances and betterment of the students. For the past 30 to 40 years, students from ENSF area have not taken the initiative to complain or share grievances, he added but assured the ENSF was always there to help students if required.
He also mentioned that Phom students were growing and progressing and encouraged them to carry on with the advancement.
