HM, organisations flay killing of businessman

Nagaland home minister Y.Patton and various organisations on Monday strongly condemned the killing of a businessman, identified as one Ashish Saha, who was shot dead in a broad daylight at Signal Bazaar, Dimapur on August 2.
In a press release, Patton said state police have been directed to bring those responsible to book and reaffirmed “strong commitment” of the state government that it would leave no stone unturned to ensure that peace and tranquillity was not disturbed in and around Dimapur in particular and the State in general. Affirming that violence could never be the means to bring peace and solution, home minister said by committing such heinous crimes at a time when the entire Naga people were yearning for peace and unity was not sending good message to the others.
NCD: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) “highly denouncing” the murder of businessman Ashish Saha expressed shock that miscreants could commit their act in broad daylight and abscond bringing unrest in the minds to the common people. 
In a press release, NCD general secretary Thsapongkyu Sangtam said in order to check such crime, the agencies should be on their heels so as to protect the citizens from all kinds of criminal activities.
Naga Council Dimapur appealed to all sections of society to condemn such act and not to allow such heinous crimes in “our civilized society”.
Further, NCD conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. 
DCCI: Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) president Hokivi Chishi condemning the killing said it has become a regular phenomenon that business community was made soft targets by anti-social elements that have scant disregard for God-given precious human lives. 
DCCI demanded the law enforcing agencies to nab the responsible irrespective of whether one was a miscreant or belonged to any Naga political groups. 
Stating that killing of businessmen in Dimapur from time to time reflected the “incompetence” of the law enforcing agencies in protecting the citizens, DCCI president said failing to arrest those responsible would “further expose the ineffectiveness of the Police Commissionerate system, which the public initially hoped and believed would bring down the rate of all sorts of crimes.”
DCCI maintained that at this rising trend of crimes perpetrated upon businessmen, the business community in Dimapur would have no option but to contemplate indefinite closure of business establishments as a last resort. Meanwhile, DCCI has extended condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NPF: Naga People’s Front (NPF) has said the killing of businessman was an outright violation of established Law, and an outrageous abuse of values and rights of the human person and family.
In a press release, NPF press bureau said “this kind of savagery and excessively barbaric crime” needed to be curbed with utmost austerity by concerned authorities. It also asserted that befitting punishment needed be awarded to the perpetrators to root out all such crimes and lawlessness. Hence, it called upon all law abiding denizens and organizations to extend support and cooperation.
Seriously viewing the unlawful and evil act of killing that took place on a Sunday as “a mockery to the Christians’ day of Holy Sabbath,” the NPF said it condemned the heinous crime in the strongest term and warned that under no circumstances, crimes of such magnitude would be treated as stray incidents.
LHD: Lotha Hoho Dimapur (LHD) described the killing as “a horrible act by the senseless perpetrators”, which greatly disturbed the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the Dimapur city. 
In a press release, LHD chairman T.L. Merry and general secretary Renathung Ezung this incident called for immediate action on the part of the law enforcing agencies in curbing such lawlessness with iron hands.
The hoho stated that it was “utterly disgusting and shameful’ that the criminals had the nerve to even carry out their killing spree on a Sunday.
Stating that it was shocked and greatly peeved by the inhuman act of the merciless and conscienceless perpetrators, LHD appealed to all law abiding and right thinking citizens, civil society, tribal and community organizations to jointly stand against such atrocious elements by cooperating and extending all possible support to the concerned authorities.
SCD: Sumi Council, Dimapur (SCD) expressing “a sense of disturbed feeling” over the killing of businessman in Dimapur, stated that mere condemnation would not suffice for the cowardly act of the perpetrators. 
In a press release by Sumi Council chairman Kuhoi Zhimo said that it was the responsibility of the public to extend all possible help and support to the law enforcing agencies, to nab the culprits of such crimes and give befitting punishments, which would act as deterrent in the near future and bring peace and tranquillity to “our cosmopolitan town.” The council meanwhile has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
KTCN: Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN) condemned the “inhuman killing” and said extortion, assault and killing had no place in civilized society.
In a press release, KTCN vice president Ramesh Hasnu stated that such criminal activities tarnished the clean image of Dimapur. 
Appealing to the district administration to bring the perpetrators book and keep strong vigilance over anti-social elements in Dimapur town, , KTCN requested the government for compensation to the victim’s family. KTCN also extended deep condolences to the bereaved family.
HSSD: Hindu Seva Samiti Dimapur (HSSD) strongly condemning the “barbaric killing” stated that every human being of any religion and community had the right to survive life span as given by God.
In a press release, HSSD convenor, Om Santi Monoj Bhattacharjee and co-convenor Gopal Sharma strongly condemned those who had interfered with God’s wish. They further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
DBS: Condemning the killing, Dimapur Bengali Samaj (DBS) said it was very unfortunate that such dastardly act happened in “our civilized society”.
In a press release, DBS president K K Paul mourned the death of businessman and prayed his soul rest in eternal peace. The Samaj also prayed the almighty lord give bereaved family the strength to bear his untimely demise.
NBS: Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj (NBS) condemning the “brutal killing’ of businessman said such heinous crimes were not acceptable in a civilized society. NBS appealed to the responsible authority to arrest the culprits at the earliest and take stern action. Meanwhile, NBS extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
DMPF: Dimapur Muslim Public Forum (DMPF) condemning the killing appealed to the district administration to investigate the case and award befitting punishment to the culprits as per law of the land. DMPF further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. 
LVC: Lohomithi Village Council (LVC) condemned the “barbaric act of killing”. 
In a press release, LVC chairman Mughato L Yeptho and Secretary Itovi Sohe termed the incident as “pure violation of ceasefire” and said such act should be condemned by all. 
While asserting that peaceful environment was the need of the hour, the council cautioned that such barbaric act would not be accepted in the society.  
DGU: Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) also condemned the killing and appealed to the law enforcing agencies to take stern action against the culprit. Further, DGU conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
