Farm machinery bank for custom hiring was formally inaugurated by director of Agriculture, Bendang Yanger at Mhainamtsi under Peren district on July 31.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Yanger stressed on the importance of adopting scientific method of farming, incorporating farm mechanization to enhance food crop production and to achieve the objective of vision, “food for all” by 2025.
He expressed hope that farmers would get maximum benefits with the launching of the program. He urged all the stake holders including farmers, service provider and department officials to work and associate together to make the venture a meaningful one.
Joint director of agriculture, in-charge of farm machineries Nosezol elaborated the guidelines and working systems of the program, while SDO (civil) Jalukie Rhosietho exhorted the farmers to use labour saved farm machineries wisely and put them into other productive works.
The co-proprietor of custom hiring centre Ikulung while acknowledging the department for financial assistance has asked the interested farmers to avail the facilities and assured them to provide with outmost sincerity.
District agriculture officer said the programme was the fourth out of seven such centre sanctioned under National Mission on Sustainable agriculture (NMSA). 
The programme was chaired by DAO, Peren Atoi Sema and vote of thanks was proposed by SDAO, Jalukie Santsu.
