Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has served an ultimatum of 15 days from Saturday on M/S Khedi Trade and Development Agency (KTDA) to execute the construction of newly upgraded Government High School (GHS) in Seyochung Village.
In a press conference, SVSU president Tsapipa C. Anar and general secretary Thronglipa Mongzar stated that the union waited patiently for the couple of months after they apprised the agency through press release dated September 22 regarding the construction of the school building.
However, KTDA turned to a deaf ear to the union’s plea, alleged SVSU and referred to the RTI reply by stating that a contract amount of Rs.58.12 lakh was awarded to KTDA where Rs.18,90,959 was already been release by the firm for construction of the school. The Union stated that they had received a numerous complaints from the general public over “zero sign of work” of the school even after 11 months after the signing of the contract agreement.
The union also questioned Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) as to why the responsible department remained silent over the issue and asked the responsible department to be sensible.
The union also urged the department not to allow withdrawal of any pending bills unless the workmanship was maintained and also asked the responsible department to obtain clearance certificate from the SVSU office before final release of the “will” in order to maintain transparency and accountability. SVSU warned that would not compromise any type of corrupt practices or negative implementation of its programme and schemes.
The union asked the responsible department to take immediate action failing which the union would take its own course of action.
