DC Phek notifies printing houses

In order to ensure correct expenditure maintenance by all political parties/candidates and to ensure free and fair elections, deputy commissioner, Phek has notified all printing houses under Phek district that it should not print election pamphlet or poster unless accompanied by a declaration on the identity of the publisher duly signed and attested by two persons who are personally known to him/her and to be delivered to the printer in duplicate.

Further DC said that the documents being printed should bear on its face the name and address of the printer and that a sample copy of the document with the copy of declaration of the publisher’s identity to the press owner is submitted to the District Election Officer in prescribed format.

The notification further stated that printing of hand bill/placard or poster merely for announcing the date/time and place of an election meeting or routine instructions to election agents or workers shall not be included in the above specifications.

Any printing press found violating the notification shall be liable for punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 6 months or with fine which may be extended to Rs. 2,000 or with both.
