Students protest against bad roads in Kohima

Irked by the pathetic road condition, students from six institutions (Don Bosco HSS, Kohima college, Christ King school, TMGHSS, Mt. Hermon HSS, Hindi institute) including colony residents and others took to the streets Tuesday in protest against the Border Road Organization (BRO) for not maintaining the deplorable road stretching from Pezielietsie (Tinpati) to BSF camp via Don Bosco HSS area Kohima.
The rally took off from DBHS School via Tinpati road and culminated at 15 Border Road Task Force camp near High School junction Kohima. Students were seen holding placards and banners some of which read: “Make road instead of river”, “DBHSS road or Doyang river”, “15 BRTF– change your mind for the betterment”, “good road save time” etc. One of the students at the rally said “even before reaching school (walking) our dresses get dirty because of the bad road”, and another said “during monsoon while walking through the road our dresses get splashed by the dirty water”.
Ultimatum on BRO
L. Khel youth organization and P. Khel youth organization had served an ultimatum on BRO/BRTF on July 23 to repair the road from Pezielietsie to BSF camp on or before August 31. Failing which, the organizations said, it would impose total ban on movement of BRO/BRTF vehicles/personnel along the said road and all other alternative roads.
