All Manipur Fish and Egg Traders’ Association (AMFETA) has appealed responsible authorities to take “necessary action” over the alleged ban imposed on truck carrying fish and eggs to Manipur. In a press note, AMFETA president Heigrujam Kunjalata Devi said members of the association comprising of educated unemployed youths have been trading in fish and eggs along National Highway-29 (former NH-39) since several decades back for their livelihood. The AMFETA president pointed out that there had been free flow of trade along the highway without any restrictions from any quarters as the business had been transacted fulfilling all necessary formalities of either the state governments and civil societies along the route. She however informed that all of a sudden some loaded trucks carrying fish and eggs have been halted in Dimapur area of the highway without any reason. The president alleged that some individuals claiming to be “cadres of NSCN (I-M)” have imposed ban on these trucks for “personal gains.” The AMFETA president appealed responsible authorities to look into the matter and take up actions so as to bring normalcy in trade and business in the interest of people of the region.
