Members of Losami Students’ Union (LSU) along with the Youth Society office bearers took the whole day of March 17 to douse off the forest fire at Therametsu Range opposite to NH 150 adjoining Manipur boundary.
The fire was completely doused off in the evening and the resources and wildlife in the area was saved.
According to LSU the forest has been under fire for the last four days as the fire reportedly started from Manipur side. The union initiated the task as the fire was destroying huge resources of the village and to preserve and maintain ecological balance.
It may be mentioned that LSU also started Wildlife Preservation in the year 1993 which was approved by the Village Council Losami.
