Parliamentary secretary sericulture, cooperation and women development Phukayi Sumi convened meeting under his chairmanship to have close coordination of the two departments in carrying out various programmes and activities.
Taking cognizance of the production of good quality and high yielding eri-silk in Nagaland of the sericulture department and the strong SHGs based of the women development department, Pukhayi asked the two departments to jointly initiate for the successful implementation of the project.
In the meeting, it was resolved that eri-silk production of the sericulture department could be supplied to women development department to take up spinning and weaving.
Further, it was agreed to expedite the establishment of cocoon bank with proper infrastructure in the identified districts.
The meeting decided to send officials from both the department to exposure trips and training. In this regard, the two department has been instructed to convene further meetings.
