Coal royalty for Nagaland has been enhanced from the existing rate of Rs.165 per metric ton to Rs.290 per metric ton considering the pit head value (PHV) at Rs.2000 per metric ton.
In a press release, directorate of geology and mining has informed all responsible that henceforth all coal mining lease holders would pay royalty at Rs.290 per metric ton and non-licensees would pay royalty at Rs.435 per metric ton.
It also informed the general public, mining lease holders, coal operators, coal traders, coal transporters operating in Nagaland that based on the directive of the government of India, all coal bearing states were allowed to realize coal royalty at flat rate of 14% of the PHV.
