Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has congratulated the chief electoral officer (CEO) and the election department for the successful conduct of the 2013 general elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
In a letter to CEO Nagaland, J Alam, the chief minister said elections have been successfully conducted under the leadership of CEO.
He added that the entire team of election officials including the administration, police and security agencies have performed their duties in exemplary manner and deserved to be congratulated.
Maintaining that this election has been the “most peaceful elections” in the state, Rio said high voter turnout percentage of 90.88% indicated that people’s willingness to participate in the democratic process.
Further, asserting that positive participation of all sections of the people, including the church organisations, civil societies, NGOs, press and media and the youth through the social networking platforms and media portals have ensured a peaceful and successful elections, Rio said all sections of the people deserved to be appreciated and congratulated.
