Patton graces MSU 50th anniv

Minister for forest and border affairs Y. Patton graced the Golden Jubilee (1963-2013) celebration of Mungya Students’ Union (MSU) at football ground, Mungya village, Wokha district Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Patton said jubilee celebrations were not mere celebrations but for giving thanks to Almighty God for His abundant blessings, forgiving one another and for fostering in the spirit of unity and comradeship amongst fellow human beings.
Patton also exhorted the students as well as the village community to put their efforts together with hope and vision to bring prosperity to the village. Acknowledging the founding members of MSU, Patton also urged the student community to follow the path of their past leaders who took pain in shaping their future.
Urging the Mungya student community to always have the spirit of competition in today’s world, Patton announced an award of Rs. 1 lakh for NPSC candidates qualifying for the post of EAC/DSP from the village during his tenure as minister.
Earlier, Patton unveiled the MSU Golden Jubilee monolith and also released the souvenir. Patton also donated Rs. 1 lakh towards the celebration of MSU Golden Jubilee. The MSU Golden Jubilee monolith was dedicated by Niroyo village AG pastor in-charge Rev. T. Ngullie and the souvenir was unveiled by History Committee convenor Nzanbemo Ezung. Greetings were delivered by MDTC (NKVIB) principal Ezanimo Kikon, Kyong Students’ Union president Subenthung Kithan, and Chukitong Range Students’ Union president T. Phyobemo Kikon.
Kohima Science College associate professor Thungbeni Kikon made a presentation on the theme ‘Honouring the Past, Envisaging a New Tomorrow’ while motivational speeches were delivered by C.R. Lotha and Dr. E. Chumdemo Kikon, and MSU president S. Renlamo Ezung delivered the presidential speech.
Other highlights of the jubilee celebration programme included presentation of folk song by Mungya Khenden Okho, Beauty and The Beast by Phyantsu and Pichano, and Alpha and Omega by the Jubilant (Male Voice).
Invocation was offered by Mungya NCRC pastor Wobemo Ezung and benediction pronounced by Mungya Head GB Yantsemo Ezung while vote of thanks was proposed by special coordinator to MSU  W. Ovungbemo Ngullie.
