Civil society organizations of India including those from Naga areas would be discussing the “Indo-Naga settlement” at a two-day consultation to be held at India Islamic Cultural Centre, New Delhi on January 12 and 13.
According to a press release issued by Naga Hoho president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and general secretary P. Chuba Ozukum, the two-day interaction would “analyse a possible resolution” in the context of the “intended settlement” between the government of India and Naga people.
Different civil societies and student organizations under the aegis of Naga Hoho would be participating in the consultation meeting in New Delhi, said Naga Hoho.
Naga Hoho further pointed out that the post cease-fire period have been marked by “people to people dialogue” and confidence building measures undertaken by “Naga-Indian civil societies.”
The hoho said the steps were initiated towards finding an “amicable solution” to the long pending “Indo-Naga” political imbroglio.
Meanwhile, Naga Hoho also stated that it was “demoralizing” to note the “differences and hiccups” among political parties particularly between the Congress and NPF over Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) vis-à-vis adoption of resolutions.
While appreciating the political parties’ “determination” to pave the way in the event of any political settlement, Naga Hoho said JLF members should uphold their commitment in “letter and spirit.”
The hoho hoped that the actions of JLF would bear fruit towards bringing “Indo-Naga political settlement” at the earliest.
