Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) conducted a training on charcoal burning through metallic kiln and drum technique at Ghotovi village under Niuland sub-division, Dimapur on November 23-24.
Trainers of the programme were Kito and Yanger, under the supervision of officials from Nagaland bamboo resource centre.
The metallic kiln method, a new technique is more productive and takes lesser time than the traditional method/pit method and brick kiln.
It may be noted that with the onset of cold season and public awareness created to save trees, demand for bamboo charcoal and bamboo charcoal briquette have increased thus generating income/self employment opportunity to farmers and unemployed.
