A workshop on ‘financial inclusion’, as a literacy campaign on “Enriching the lives of rural people of Nagaland” was held on September 13, at Town Hall Tseminyu.
The program was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in association with the North Eastern Council, Govt of India, with District Administration of Kohima as part of the program.
According to DIPR, Tseminyu ICC regional director- North East and joint director of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Ishantor Sobhapandit, when delivering the key note address, said that the purpose would be to impart know-how about the advantages of maintaining a bank account which could be beneficial in other areas as well.
He also spoke about the credit deposit ratio of the North East Region, including Nagaland, which he said would have to be improved. He further encouraged the people to improve their banking habits.
The ICC director also said that since North East India was an agrarian economy, the public/farmers of the region will have to be taught about credit facilities and newly launched government schemes.
He called upon the farmers to cooperate with the policies and programs of the government being implemented.
Heads of banking institutions of Tseminyu, branch manager SBI Bank, Vijiya Bank, NSCB Ltd, participated in the program.
SDO (C) Kohima, Shaying Sheu, and EAC Tseminyu, Kevingoto Kulnu, both spoke at the program as facilitators.
The program was chaired by ICC NE-Region executive officer Siddhartha Roy and was attended by leaders from various business groups, farmers, GBs and public of Tseminyu town.
