A seminar-cum-awareness programme on the new centrally sponsored Scheme – Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) and potential of food processing in Nagaland was organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce at Longkumer Kilem, here on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal and joint director, Agriculture, Temsuyinla Jamir graced the seminar as special guest and resource person.

DC in his speech spoke on the importance of PMKSY scheme and added that the scheme was an important opportunity for the educated youth to be self employed instead of seeking over saturated white collared job.

He said that the state was lacking behind with other North Eastern states in the food processing due to communication and transport barriers and lack of knowledge.

In this regard, he was hopeful that this seminar will provide an opportunity for the people to take the state forward.

Earlier, welcome note was delivered by DIC Mokokchung, general manager, T Lipokwati Ao and vote of thanks was proposed by executive assistant, Avovi Neikha.
