
Biblical Church Council of India (BCCI), Bangalore organised an advent Christmas for the senior citizens (Aos of Naga United Village) at Life is Beautiful Ministry (LIBM) at Naga United Village here on Tuesday.
The programme was graced by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) Alemtemshi Jamir as chief guest.
In his address, Alemtemshi described senior citizens as “history teachers” and highlighted the important roles played by them which, he said has helped the younger generations build a better future.
Stressing on the topic, he said every senior citizen should try to copy or note down something of the past that they have experienced, which ultimately will act as ‘golden words’ for the younger generations.
He further encouraged the gathering to exercise regularly to take care of their health. He also distributed blankets to all the members present in the programme. After his speech, the entire congregation prayed for him.
Rev. Dr. Y. Yangermongba, who delivered the word of God, also spoke on the important roles that a senior citizen can play in today’s generation and how their experience and knowledge can help the youths revive the cultural ethnicity. Alemla Aier and C. Ramok Pongen also spoke on the programme representing senior citizens.
Nungsangmeren (91) and Arongla Changki (83) were regarded as the oldest man and woman at the programme. Earlier, the programme chaired by Achila Jamir began with an invocation R. Temjen Imsong.
Altogether, 74 senior citizens attended the programme. The celebration was followed by a mass feast.
