3 dead, 2 hurt in Tuensang road mishap

In a tragic incident, three persons were killed and two others sustained injuries in a road accident at Jail Colony, Tuensang town on Sunday.

According to Tuensang deputy commissioner (DC) Mohammed Ali Shihab, a father-son duo died on the spot when their car Maruti Swift rolled down from the Jail Colony Road of Tuensang round 4 pm.

He said another person later succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital Tuensang, while one woman sustained serious injuries and had been admitted to District Hospital Tuensang. Similarly, the driver of the car, who sustained minor injuries, too was admitted at the district hospital. 

DC said the injured woman could be shifted to Mokokchung for better treatment after administrating of first aid at the Tuensang hospital. 

The mishap occurred near District Jail (Jail Colony) as the persons were travelling from Tuensang town to their residence at NAP Camp, Sao Chang College Road. The deceased have been identified as Hanso Yimchunger (50), his son Tokiumong Yimchunger (11) and T Alem Shipong (25), who died at Hospital. The injured are Changsomba (25) and Moala, wife of Hanso Yimchunger. The cause of the accident was not known till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, at the instruction of Shihab, the district administration and District Disaster Management Authority paid an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to each of the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured as an emergency relief.

The cash was handed over by Tuensang sub-divisional officer (civil) in the presence of head gaon bura and DB from DC office.
