A combined Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and Poshan Abhiyan Rally (PAR) was held at Chessore ICDS block on March 20, flagged off by L. Samuel Konyak, SDO (C) Chessore.
A press release from CDPO Chessore, N. Ekonthung Kikon stated that Samuel, in his speech, highlighted the general importance and impact of nutrition on women and children through the intervention of the WCD ministry, department of Social Welfare and the community in general. He lamented the lack of medical facilities and deplorable road connectivity which was severely limiting the delivery of schemes and programs, but encouraged pregnant women and children, who are the target beneficiaries, to avail central welfare schemes.
CDPO, N. Ekongthung Kikon emphasized on the benefits of institutional delivery and subsequent immunization to ensure the health of children. He also expressed gratitude to the administration, school authorities and public for their support and cooperation in making the rally a success.
