Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has vehemently condemned the appalling discrimination and racism that people from North East India are being subjected to in different cities of the country.
A press release from AKM president Nungdokyanger Pongener and general secretary Nekmi Longkumer stated that, such racism reflects the general ignorance of the people in understanding that the NE region is an integral part of India.
AKM also stated that, people in different states of the North East region, were putting all-out effort to ensure that migrants from different states of India are safe, whereby the AKM has urged the people in the other cities of India to reciprocate and take care of the people from the North East region.
It also stated that number of health care givers from the region were serving in various hospitals in India trying to fight this dreadful pandemic and saving lives. Therefore, AKM asserted that racism or discrimination against people from the North East region will not bring any healing or solution.
