Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and Kuda Youth Club (KYC) have condemned the recent tax demand served on Progressive Motors by some cadres of an underground outfit.
WSH said the forcible demand at gunpoint which came at a time when everyone was facing great hardships due to two months of lockdown was “inhumane, insane and outrageous”. WSH said it viewed such a matter with all seriousness and wanted to take it up with higher authorities. It also appreciated the police for their prompt action in arresting the culprit involved and demanded that the accused should be denied bail and awarded exemplary punishment so as to discourage similar acts in future.
WSH also said it was time for all Nagas to work and eat from the sweat of their own brow, become self-reliant, productive and give up such “parasitic habits”. It asked NNPGs to adhere to the principle of “one tax, one government” in letter and spirit and rein in erring cadres from such acts besides asking all Sumis in particular, to desist from such despicable ways that tarnished and shamed the community every now and then.
“Very often many respectable Sumis have to hang their heads in shame due to such acts of wayward individuals,” it added. WSH further sought early resolution of the Naga political problem to eradicate this malady and for the Nagas to become self reliant.
KYC: Kuda Youth Club (KYC) has also condemned the dastardly act of harassment and unjustified demand towards TK Motors by a faction of the NNPGs. KYC vice president Rüüzhalie Nagi and general secretary Rokozoto Meru said KYC took strong note of the “numerous occasions where TK Motors had unjustly suffered under the unscrupulous elements in the guise of political groups.”
KYC termed it as “disgusting to see” that TK Peseyie, a prominent figure of Kuda Village, had fallen victim to vices of criminals time and again. KYC said it will not remain a mute spectator and warned all anti-social elements that “hiding behind the cover of NNPGs will not be tolerated”. KYC further reminded all Naga political groups to realise that Nagas stand for “one government, one tax” and that the present situation where all parties make ridiculous demands was plunging Naga society to doom. KYC lauded police for the timely action and appealed to expedite the probe without delay.
