During the extended lockdown period, distribution by various agencies and also financial assistance by prominent personality continue towards alleviating the plight of people in need.
Baichung Bhutia extends financial assistance: Padma Shree, Arjuna award winner, Indian football legend and former captain of Indian football team, Baichung Bhutia contributed to Suruhuto Sub Division Task Force under Zunheboto district against COVID-19 pandemic.
According to DIPR report, during the joint coordination meeting held to monitor progress in the district, Hotoshe Sema Awomi member of the task force extended gratitude on behalf of the citizens of Suruhuto area to Baichung Bhutia, for his financial contribution and solidarity to SSTF. He stated that it would definitely boost the morale of the team and people of the area. Baichung Bhutia in a short video message encouraged and congratulated the task force for the great initiatives under taken and encouraged them to continue working hard in supporting state government plans.
Village councils of Longsa and Wokha: Village councils of Longsa and Wokha villages donated vegetables and fruits to the administration, medical and police personnel at Wokha town on May 5. A press release from CMO office Wokha stated that, DC, Orenthung Lotha expressed gratitude to the village councils and stated that through the continuous support of churches and various civil societies, the department was able to work efficiently. Council members of Longsa and Wokha villages also maintained that donation of vegetables and fruits were a way of showing their appreciation to the frontline workers for risking their lives to protect the public during the pandemic.
Zunheboto: Satami Village Council (SVC) distributed a truck load of green vegetables to the needy at Zunheboto town on May 5.
Kikheto Chishi: Kikheto Chishi, kilonser, caretaker CAO, UT distributed first phase relief to UT staff in town areas. A total of 70 bags of rice were distributed.
STMS: St. Thomas Mission Society (STMS) donated essential food commodities to God is Love Ministry, Dimapur to be distributed among the LGBTQ members. A press release from secretary, STMS stated that the ministry was able to provide food items to 25 families which included members from within and outside the fellowship who were financially unsound.
Co-ordinators of the ministry Moa Sashi and Anna Neitsu thanked Rev. Fr. Dr. P.S Varghese, Rev. Fr. Gemcy Eappen for their concern as well as Rev. Fr. Thomas Ninan general coordinator of ESHA project for the continuous support he had rendered to them.
YBC Noksen block: Yimrup Baptist Church (YBC) of Yimrup village under Noksen block Tuensang district provided three bags of fresh vegetables to the staff of District Hospital Tuensang on May 4.
PVYO: Phek Village Youth Organization (PVYO) has handed over essential relief items to the differently abled persons in Phek village, under the initiative of PVYO president Thuputhiyi Venuh. The essential commodities were jointly donated by local businessmen and women of Phek village.
TVC Noklak: Thang Village Council (Noklak village) distributed food items to the 1400 house holds of Noklak village on May 5. According to DIPR report, during the distribution on behalf of village the council chairman S. Panpan expressed gratitude to Dy. CM Y. Patton, minister Imna Along and advisor H. Haiying.
Mokokchung Battalion: Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) distributed rations and masks to daily wage earners and underprivileged families on May 5.
Zunheboto Battalion: Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles provided essential items to 15 residents of Chendang Saddle village, Tuensang on May 4.
