
Lone Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, KG Kenye, on behalf of the North East people, has expressed appreciation to the Chennai police officers and the Government of Tamil Nadu for the cooperation and support extended to the stranded people from North East region in Chennai.
In a press release, Kuvera Nakro, PRO to MP (RS), said that the MP came across a video on social media in which the stranded people from North East were arguing with the Chennai police.
Taking note of the incident, MP intervened and directed his PRO Dr.Naresh Ram, who was stationed in Chennai, to look into the issue.
Accordingly, the PRO immediately swung into action and found out the spot where the incident took place. He coordinated with DCP of Chennai police and found out around 64 people from North East were being held up at Pallikaranai, Chennai.
Out of 64 people, 63 were from Assam and one lady was from Peren district Nagaland. PRO interacted with all the 64 people and assured them all necessary assistance.
On informing about the plight of the stranded people, the resident commissioner of Assam took all necessary measures, PRO said.
Later, when contacted, it was learnt that the Naga lady was safely put in a private accommodation.
