Five-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on rethinking critical theory and praxis in the humanities and social sciences, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Tetso College, Dimapur, began on July 13, and concluded on July 18.
A press release by Tetseo College senior media executive, Rinsit Benjamin Sareo, stated that the final day witnessed two technical sessions with Dr. Basil Darlong Diengdoh of Dibrugarh University, delivering on the topic “Critical and Literary Perspectives on Post-Humanism” and Dr. Sreesha Udupa of Nagaland University, on “Critical Health Humanities: Illness and Medico-Political Discourses”.
Valedictory session was chaired by HoD, History, Tetso College, Tatongkala Pongen. Assistant professor, St. Joseph’s University, Dimapur, Dr. Alemmenla Walling, stated that online FDP was indicative of how such hybrid subfields, comprising of philosophy, psychology, history, cultural, literary, and linguistics studies and more, have woven into the grain of critical theory and made its way into contemporary bastion, which was striking, thought-provoking, and relevant.
Deputy registrar (Examinations), ICFAI, Meghalaya, Surajit Sen Purkayastha, further appreciated the distinguished array of resource persons.
Coordinator of the FDP and IQAC, Tetso College Dr S Elika Assumi, in conclusion, stated that the present pandemic had forced us into adapting novel learning avenues, but success of the five day FDP was indicative that academics was moving in the right direction. “This is collaboration in the true spirit of knowledge”, she added. The FDP was attended by 188 participants from different parts of India.
