As part of Poshan Maah, a free anaemia screening camp for adolescent girls and women was held at Tuensang town on September 28, organized by department of Social Welfare (ICDS) in collaboration with the Health and Family Welfare department Tuensang.
A press release by DMO Tuensang, Apheang stated that, short programme was held before the screening camp where SBP district lead Poshan Abhiyan, P H Ramaikalo, briefed the participants about what anaemia was and how to recognise it and its various impact.
Medical team for the camp was led by drug inspector Arenla accompanied by two ANMs from UPHC, DMO, BPM Tuensang sadar block and also assisted by official staff of Social Welfare department. Altogether, 63 were tested for anaemia including ten adolescent girls, out of which 3 were found anaemic and the rest were average. Free iron folic tablets were also distributed to those who had low HB level.
Tsaru village: Anemia screening and awareness camp for adolescent girls was held at village council hall, Tsaru on September 26. A press release by supervisor, ICDS, Chare, Thaskye Sangtam, stated that EAC, chairman, BCAP, Nokpai Konyak, delivered the key note address, followed by registration of participants for anaemia screening was done. Awareness on adolescent health and nutrition was explained by MO, PHC Chare, Dr. Akumla. Sanitary pads were distributed to all participants and medicines to those who had issues.
