Condemning the firing incident at ITC Dan (Pangsha) on August 15, the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) said that the incident has disturbed and put the lives of innocent people in danger.
A condemnation note by KTC president, L. Ngon, stated that, Noklak as a new district was about to celebrate the first Independence Day when the firing incident has brought a bad reputation.
Pointing out that the land of Khiamniungan is not a battleground, the KTC stated that Khiamniungans were peace loving citizens and looking forward for all round development but such incidents “are hindering the public movement and taking us backward instead of allowing us to move forward.” KTC also stated that people of Khiamniungan, both within India and Myanmar had suffered a lot for the cause of Naga freedom movement and “we don’t want another bloodshed in our land.”
