Mon district administration was awarded silver at the SKOCH awards for “response to COVID-19” on April 30.
In a press release, DC Mon Thavaseelan K said that in response to the COVID-19, the district administration started a slew of measures to contain and prevent the spread while ensuring that the basic services were delivered to people at their doorsteps.
Public movement permit, home delivery of vegetables, banking services and water, food bank, online e-pass for intra-district movement, active case search strategy, walk-in sample kiosk, district COVID app, were some of the innovations initiated.
In 2020, the SKOCH award was also conferred to Mon in three categories: SKOCH golden crucible award for the mission “financially inclusive Mon”, SKOCH order of merit for its initiative “district response to COVID-19” and SKOCH honourable mention for “skill Mon mission”. Instituted in 2003, the SKOCH award is India’s highest civilian honour conferred by an independent organisation as third party assessment.
The award recognises and awards best efforts in the areas of digital, financial and social inclusion. It also recognises the best governance practice in the country and provides a platform for the rest of the country to emulate such practices.
