Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has expressed strong support for the implementation of Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) commission report at the earliest.
CNSA president Himato Yeptho, vice president Akummeren Longchar and general secretary Lipemo M Tsopoe maintained that early implementation of the report would prevent the misuse of indigenous certificates and employment opportunities in the state by “unscrupulous individuals.” CNSA also strongly demand implementation of ILP like Manipur state to protect and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the state.
Meanwhile, CNSA expressed deep concern over “district boundaries dispute between Dimapur and Peren”, which it said was creating uncertainty, instability and insecurity amongst the citizens.
It said that anyone involved in disturbing the peaceful atmosphere by destroying properties and causing loss of life must be brought to book at the earliest. “This unfortunate incident is not only vitiating the spirit of coexistence but it is posing a threat to the dream of living together as a greater Naga family,” CNSA said. It also urged the parties involved in boundary dispute to strictly implement the 2019 status quo in letter and spirit.
Urging all right-thinking citizens to condemn the incident, CNSA said: “We must also desist from commenting and instigating various groups from further escalating the already volatile situation as there will be no winner in such conflict.”
CNSA expressed hope that peace and tranquillity in the society would be restored at the earliest.
