Leader of opposition TR Zeliang visited Lamhainamdi village in Peren district Monday to pay homage at the burial ground of the three persons who were killed on March 22, a DIPR report stated.
Zeliang said “the merciless and inhumane massacre of three innocent lives at Lamhainamdi village” was “a challenge to Nagas as well as the district administration and security personnel of Peren district.” He encouraged the people to retrospect on the history of their village, strongly uphold their rights and stand for these.
Stressing that it was the responsibility of everyone to nab the culprits, he called upon the gathering, regardless of their political affiliations and denominations, to come forward and work united and effectively with the administration and police in order to ensure that the culprits were arrested.
He expressed confidence that the culprits would be given stringent punishment while expressing pain and grief for the three bereaved families. Zeliang was accompanied by district administration officials, police personnel and members of CSOs of Peren district.
