Even as the State reels under the devastative second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, a Good Samaritan has stepped out of his comfort zone to help the needy.
John Bendang, from Medziphema, who has reportedly converted his personal vehicle into an ambulance to help the poor and needy in this time of need.
Talking to Nagaland Post, Bendang said he came across several sick people, who did own vehicles, finding it difficult to reach hospitals in time as no taxis or autos wanted to take any risk by letting them in their vehicles, adding it became more difficult for them during night time.
Hence, he said he decided to help them by turning his vehicle into a mini ambulance. “Society has given us so much and I feel we may never get a better opportunity than this to give it back to the society,” he remarked. Mentioning that in the past two days he had helped five Covid-19 positives and two normal patients get to hospitals and back home, Bendang said the gratefulness in their eyes was his reward.
While the medical team was doing its best, he observed that Covid-19 positive cases were increasing day by day. Hence, he felt that it was the time for people to come out of their safe zone and help the government in fighting the pandemic. Pointing out that his service was meant for patients, hospitals and health centres free of cost, Bendang said people could contact at 7085387405.
