Five-day “faculty development programme” was organised by Research and Faculty Development Committee of St. John College (SJC) Dimapur from July 12 to 16.
A press release by SJC informed that the programme focused on key points such as “meaningful teaching- learning, both online and regular, research orientation, publishing works, helping students in conducting meaningful project works and balancing professional as well as personal growth”.
Resource person, Vineetha Davies from St. Aloysius College, Kerala, spoke on the topic, “Use of Online Library Resources for Teaching and Research” providing Intel on existence of online digital libraries available and how to use them freely for research and teaching purposes. She delivered her talk on trinity of three elements –teachers, learners and resources – and how faculties without resources could not complete process of learning.
On the second day Dr. Mini TC of WMO College, Kerala, spoke on the topic, “Blended Learning: UGC’s Proposal and Issues”.
Resource person for the third day, regional director of IGNOU, Jorhat, Dr. Anil Ch Borah, elaborated on the topic, “Skill- based Teaching /Learning: Making education meaningful”.
The fourth day focused on “research methodology” and was ran in two sessions simultaneously with Arts session headed by Professor Prafulla Kumar Nath from Gauhati University as speaker and Science session headed by Professor Chitta Ranjan Deb from Nagaland University as speaker.
The final fifth day was dedicated to academic research paper publication, which operated with each session separately for Arts and Science faculties headed by Dr. Renu Yadav from Central University of Haryana for the Arts session and Prof. Chitta Ranjan Deb from Nagaland Univeristy for the Science session.
The last session on the final day was preceded by principal, SJC, professor ST Janetius, who delivered talk on “Work-life Balance: Managing Productive Academic and Personal growth”.
