Govt to urge Centre to increase IAS quota

The state cabinet during its meeting held on December 6, decided to write to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), government of India to increase the quota for encadrement of state officer to IAS posts (promotion/selection from NCS/non-NCS) in view of the shortage o officers against posts meant for direct recruitment.
According to the minutes of the meeting, the cabinet deliberated that the lone vacancy (for 2017) for induction into IAS will be earmarked for selection from the non-NCS services. The vacancy arising in 2018 would be earmarked for promotion from NCS, it stated.
It was also decided that till such time the number of available posts for promotion/selection from NCS/non-NCS was increased by government of India, the existing 28 posts will be shared– 25 posts for NCS and 3 posts for non-NCS, “subject to approval of the promotion/selection by DoPT/UPSC.”
Further, the cabinet also decided to constitute a ‘special committee’ to examine all relevant grievances of the NCS. The committee will be asked to submit its report by January 31, 2018.
