Nagaland based journalists have expressed deep anguish over the manner in which the reporters were restricted from covering the programme of the Union Home minister, Rajnath Singh at Dimapur on Friday. The minister had inaugurated various projects taken up Assam Rifles at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi.
Despite issuing passes for the reporters, who were present at the venue since morning, the organizers had allowed them to cover only the inauguration of the swimming pool, sports complex and hoisting of highest national flag in Nagaland. However, some news channels were allowed to cover the rest of the programme.
Later, during an interaction with media persons, the union home minister evaded questions regarding Naga issue. Singh’s only response to one of the questions was about the territorial integrity issue of the North Eastern states. The minister affirmed that the territorial integrity of the states will not be compromised in the event solution to the Naga problem is arrived at.
