Sceveral organizations have come out in support of the ACAUT public rally on August 25 at Super Market, Dimapur which will be addressed by persons from a wide spectrum of society in Nagaland
As per ACAUT, those scheduled to speak include: NTC, ENPO, along with the following- Khekiye K. Sema, Z. Lohe, T. Solo, Peter Rutsa and Nitoka V. Swu (PSAN convenor).
District-wise youth and student bodies expected to address the rally include: Angmi Youth Organisation; Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, Zunheboto Town Youth Organisation, Rengma Selo Zi, Tseminyu; Lotha Youth Hoho, Wokha; Phek Town Youth Organisation, Zeme Students’ Union, Peren and Chamber of Commerce bodies, namely MCCI (Mon) and ZCCI (Zunheboto). Meanwhile, ACAUT has appealed to all Nagas to attend the rally as the ‘War Against Corruption’ and the ‘Battle to Reclaim The Land’ would be lost without their support. It maintained that the rally would be the “one last chance” to show the world that Nagas are united in solidarity against corruption and factionalism.
ACAUT also clarified that despite speculations, its avowed motive was to “usher in peace, self-esteem and dignity in our lives”. It said that with the strength from thousands who would be attending the August 25 rally, historic resolutions would be adopted for which mass participation was crucial.
ACAUT also informed that CNTC has permitted its office next to Town Hall (Naga Shopping Arcade) to be used as control room till the time of the rally.
Various organisations that have extended all cooperation with ACAUT for the rally include:
Free auto ride: Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) on Tuesday while extending solidarity with the proposed rally, announced that it would provide free town trip for one hour that day from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. In a press release, DDADU general secretary, Inito L Shohe, stated that stickers would be pasted on autorickshaws assigned especially for the rally. In this regard, DDADU has requested the public to identify those assigned autorickshaws and avail the free trip.
CNTC: Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), which made a clarion call upon all to introspect and retrospect to bring changes in the state for the sake of the coming generations. CNTC opined it was time for every Naga to come together to eradicate the malady of corruption which has deeply entrenched and engulfed entire society.
ASUD: Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) though its president, Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary, Moayanger Jamir have encouraged every right thinking Naga youth to be an agent of change by joining the “public revolution” spearheaded by ACAUT. ASUD said it was time for the voice of people to resonate across Nagaland against corruption instead of being disgruntled spectators. ASUD has therefore asked all its village and sub-units to attend the rally along with members without fail.
PSAN: Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has aso extended support to the proposed rally. PSAN through its media cell stated that the time has come for the public to raise voice “against the misdoings and insensitive attitude of the government towards the plight of its citizens.”
