Mokokchung district would be getting a new hospital as “Anava Foundation” —a non profit foundation based in Thun, Switzerland—aims to open its project hospital, “Anava Hospital” at a proposed site at Settsü village, some 10 km away from mokokchung town.
This was revealed by the members of Anava Foundation in an interactive session with members representing various NGOs, media and public on Tuesday at Longkumer Kilem.
Presenating a power-point presentation, Anava Foundation, members Dr. Sungtiakum Jamir and Dr. Nadia Jamir, who are husband and wife, it all started off as a simple idea after seeing the lack of medical care in the rural areas of Nagaland.
They said a non-profit foundation was initiated so that it would be a door to bring health care services to needy areas. They said this resulted in formation of “Anava Foundation”.  They disclosed that the hospital would be inaugurated tentatively on November 2019.
They said the main purpose of the hospital was to complement the local medical facilities with affordable, modern, operative and diagnostic services.
They added that high quality, considerate and safe medicine, based on Christian values, would become accessible for the poor of the region. At the same time, the foundation aims to provide a platform for an international medical exchange. They said this should enable western professionals to gain work experience and at the same time provide training for local staff in evidence-based empathetic medicine.
