Chekiye Village Council (CVC) has vehemently condemned the attempted kidnapping of a 13 year old girl on August 20 at Chekiye village by Tohuto, a resident of 5th mile model village.
In a condemnation note, CVC chairman, Toiho Yeptho and secretary Mughaho Zhimomi, stated that the failed attempt of the kidnapping does not minimize the gravity of the case at all.
CVC stated that it was pertinent to note that the accused, who is a stranger to Chekiye village, walked all alone inside the church compound and had the audacity lure the girl and added that such evil action inside the church vicinity has created a fear psychosis in society.
Stating that people have lost faith in the legal system of the state leading to mobocracy, CVC reposed confidence in the procedures followed by the police in charge sheeting the case.
The council has said it expect the police to unearth the reason for attempt to kidnap/abduct and asked if police has identified the white Gypsy and motorcycle and the friend of the accused and if police have taken the statements of all relevant witnesses of the crime.
Further, CVC said it would extend cooperation so that justice prevailed and confidence of the people was restored. Further it cautioned that Chekiye village council and its wings of organizations would leave no stone unturned to bring this case to its logical conclusion.
HASSU: Highway Area Sumi Students Union (HASSU) has strongly condemned the most barbaric act committed by two unscrupulous persons at Chekiye village. The union appealed the law enforcing agency to take strict action and book the culprit under no bailable warrant for which the union would take its own course of action if the culprit was set free.
AUD: Asukhomi Union Dimapur (AUD) has strongly condemned the dastardly attempt to molest and murder of a minor girl, a bonafide member of AUD, by one Tohuto on August 20, at Chekiye village.
In a press release, AUD president Hukuto Yepthomi has appealed the concerned authorities not to grant bail to the accused under any circumstances and to provide stringed and befitting punishment to the accused as per the provisions of the law.
Asukhomi Union Dimapur has also appealed officer-in charge of the case to reveal the details of the accused to the union. Further, the union has expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Chekiye Village Council (CVC) for their timely intervention in apprehending the accused and initiating necessary action.
