ADC & administrator, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Sachin Jaiswal has informed all citizens in and around Mokokchung town that the old MMC dumping zone located at Tsukjongkong, near Ungma village, has been closed since January 2, 2017 and the new MMC dumping zone is located at “Sabangkabamenchen” 7 km away from old Mokokchung-Tuensang road junction under Mokokchung village jurisdiction for MMC dumpers and pickup trucks of the designated wards. According to DIPR report, throwing of waste materials in the old dumping zone has been prohibited.
Other than these, any one/party who wants to throw their garbage in the said dumping zone must take permission from MMC, the report stated. Observing that some unidentified persons were dumping garbage on the road side before reaching the MMC spot, ADC cautioned such illegal practice shall be penalized by the concerned authority. Moreover, no one is allowed to throw death animals in the main dumping zone and the dumping boxes located within town, it stated. Further, respective ward authorities have also been requested to maintain the standing order of prohibiting dumping of waste materials in open space, drainage and roadsides within their jurisdiction.
