Govt earmarks fund for KSC laboratories

State government has earmarked fund for construction of new laboratories at Kohima Science College after it was burnt down on April 3.
Chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu said this at the dinner hosted by him for the visiting NAAC peer team, principal, faculty members and alumni of Kohima Science College at Hotel De Oriental Grand Kohima on Wednesday.
He regretted that education in the state began late, while some neighbouring states have century old institutions. However, he said that state has made progress in the education sector.  Parliamentary secretary higher and technical education Deo Nukhu highlighted on the unfortunate fire incident at Kohima Science College to the NAAC team. He said that a new science college was coming up at Wakching town under Mon district to encourage more students to take up science.
Coordinator NAAC peer team Dr. K.N. Guruprasad, who was on his first visit to Nagaland, urged the faculty to promote biodiversity and share its experiences to other parts of the country. He said that North eastern states have many unexplored biodiversity. Chief secretary Pankaj Kumar also addressed the gathering. NAAC team also included Dr. Mohammad Raziuddin chairman NAAC peer team and Dr. Gaurang Charan Mohanty as member NAAC peer team.
