The first inter-school tournament commenced in Aboi from July 6 to 11.SDO (C) Arhomo Yanthan who unfurled the tournament flag and kicked off the tournament congratulated the Aboi Town Students Union president and his colleagues for organising the event for youths and students of Aboi in particular and Konyak community in general. He further encouraged participants and organising committee in the upcoming tournament.
Pastor Rev. Yeanphong, Aboi Town Baptist Church invoked God’s presence and blessings for the tournament, the keynote address was delivered by Hamshen, ATSU, president followed by felicitation of subject toppers and distinctions holders in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC examinations.
Lydia from St. John School secured 100 in Social Science and is the subject topper in Nagaland.
Three students from Longshang Memorial High School secured distinctions in all subjects. They are Daman Dalal (92%), Honai Konyak (88%), W. Lily (82%).
Among the Higher Secondary schools in Nagaland, schools in Aboi have has also secured 100% pass percentage. 10 students secured distinction in Political Science, 4 in History, 3 in Education and 1 in Sociology.
Nokom Konyak, the 1st president of ATSU led the lighting of torch of the tournament and Hongnao Konyak, Games and sports secretary led the oath taking ceremony. Out of the 16 educational institutions, 13 are participating in the inter-school tournament.
