Ao Baptist Churches Association (ABAM) organised a candlelight vigil at Mokokchung town square (police point) on Sunday evening under the theme “Prayer for Peace in Manipur”.
Speaking on the occasion, ABAM executive secretary Rev. Dr. Prof Mar Pongener informed that the candle light service was being at all the 127 churches and 13 fellowships under ABAM.
Rev. Pongener said people from all walks of life in Mokokchung town prayerfully decided to hold the candlelight vigil in order to show solidarity with brothers and sisters in Manipur facing untold hardships, tragedy, loss, sorrow and grief.

He said the event was to tell people of Manipur that “we feel you, love you and have special concern for you and being remembered in our prayers”. He also expressed the hope that God will listen to the cries of brothers and sisters in Manipur. “As we sent out the message of hope and comfort to the people in Manipur, it is our prayer that in God they will find grace and mercy,” Rev. Pongener said.
He also said that the ABAM will continue to support and pray for the brothers and sisters in Manipur.
