Philimi Kuqhakulu Kohima (PKK), Jakhama Students’ Union and Holy Family Church celebrated their 25th anniversary, 50 golden jubilee and 25 anniversary respectively in different programmes across Nagaland.
PKK: Philimi Kuqhakulu Kohima (PKK) celebrated its silver anniversary on December 27 at Highland Park, IG Stadium, Kohima.
At the programme, the 25th anniversary souvenir was released by parliamentary secretary of Justice and Law and SIRD, Er. Picto Shohe.
Er. Picto in his speech encouraged the Philimi community of Kohima to continue living close-knitted as had been in the past fulfilling their motto of “Each One, Help One.” He told them to look back with gratitude at the efforts put in by the pioneers for PKK. He lauded the pioneers for their selfless efforts in establishing the PKK.
Host of leaders from Philimi community including GB Philimi, Luhevi; Philimi Welfare Dimapur chairman, Shikato; Philimi Welfare Akuhaito representative, Akavi Sheqi and Kivishe Yeptho from Kohima also spoke at the programme.
Philimi Baptist Church, pastor, Kawoto pronounced blessings, PWK and Philimi Students’ Union Kohima unit presented special numbers and Zhutovi Chisho delivered vote of thanks.
JSU: Jakhama Students’ Union (JSU) two-day long golden jubilee got underway on December 27 at Campion School Ground, Jakhama.
Managing director, Fernwood Higher Secondary School, Koko Vizotha, spoke on the topic “Education and its impact in the present context” during the inaugural function.
While emphasizing on the need to choose their career and profession properly, Koko also urged the students to follow their ambitions and what inspired them.
Koko also challenged the students to foray into private sector as well and to cultivate the virtues of hard work and diligence.
She stated that talent alone would not ensure success, while also calling upon the parents to get more involved with the children by investing their time and support.
Stating that bookish knowledge would not ensure a complete education, she called upon the students to seek the wisdom of their parents.
Golden jubilee souvenir was released by additional director general, National Academy of Customs Excise & Narcotics, Shillong, K. Ashi Khieya, followed by literary competition session.
Trustee, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, New Delhi, Niketu Iralu would unveil the monolith on December 28 at 10 a.m and speak on the topic “Envisioning a competitive future.”
JSU president Kelethuzo Yosa would deliver presidential address while JSU golden jubilee planning committee convenor, Ar.Zavishio Khieya would highlight the concept of Educational Trust. Prize distribution and entertainment session would also take place.
Closing function would be attended by engineer-in-chief, NPWD, Kohima, Er. Khiipi Natso as the speaker. He would also launch the educational trust and also deliver a speech on the topic “50 Years and Beyond.” The session would also witness installation of JSU new office bearers and jubilee nite.
HFC: Holy Family Church (HFC) Nagaland Police Campus, Chumukedima, celebrated 25th anniversary with Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil as the main celebrant on December 27. The celebration began with the blessing of the monolith by the bishop and unveiled by convener, Elias Lotha.
Bishop said it was indeed a joyous occasion to thank God and one another for the many blessings received. He said that the church itself a perennial sign of God’s blessing and urged the community to remember the past with gratitude.
Bishop further emphasized that the occasion should spur and instil the family values for better family life. Bishop, said that in the catholic liturgical calendar the last Sunday of the year was celebrated as the Feast of the Holy Family. He said that the Church presents the family of Nazareth, with Jesus, Mary and Joseph, as a model for all Christian families and to look to them for inspiration, example and encouragement.
There was also a short felicitation program anchored by Johnny Ruangmei and Fr. John Lichoi, asst. priest, Chumukedima. The jubilee choir and women group presented songs, jubilee souvenir was released by Bishop and presentation was made to people who supported the life and growth of the Church and convenor, silver jubilee, K. Elias Lotha proposed vote of thanks.
