College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU (I), Jalukie conducted a free “livestock infertility awareness cum treatment camp” on February 24 at Council Hall, Punglwa-A Village. H, CAU Jalukie, Peren informed that the programme was funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – National Research Centre on Equines, Hissar, Haryana under North Eastern Hill (NEH) – Component.
The programme was conducted by expert faculty and students under the team leadership of assistant professor, department of veterinary gynecology and obstetrics, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, and the supervision of the dean of the Veterinary College, Jalukie, Nagaland, Dr. I. Shakuntala.
As a part of the programme, a technical session was held in which various topics related to livestock infertility and diseases were delivered by the resource persons followed by a separate farmer-scientist interaction.
The topics entitled, “infertility issues in livestock, its impact and management”, “parasitic diseases affecting animal reproduction and its management”, “common animal diseases in Nagaland, prevention & treatment” and “zoonotic diseases of public health importance” were delivered by Dr. Tukheswar Chutia; Dr. Sonjoy Kr. Borthakur, Professor; Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, assistant professor and Dr. Raghubir Singh, assistant professor, respectively. Free animal health checkups, treatment and vaccination were also carried out during the programme. A total of 58 participants attended the programme.
