The new team of the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) for the 2024-2027 tenure, led by advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, as the president, took over during a ceremony held at Ura Hotel on Wednesday.
In his address, Yimkhiung expressed gratitude to the outgoing leadership, led by former minister Neiba Kronu, who served as the previous NCA president. He acknowledged their dedication and hard work, stating that their contributions have left a lasting impact on the association.
Yimkhiung, while accepting his new role as NCA president, highlighted the legacy of dedication, hard work, and passion left behind by his predecessors. He emphasized his commitment to building on that foundation to elevate chess in Nagaland to greater heights.
He expressed confidence in the association’s ability to nurture local talent and provide the necessary resources and opportunities for success on both national and international stages.
Yimkhiung also underscored the importance of chess in sharpening the mind and teaching valuable life lessons such as patience, strategy, and perseverance. Under his leadership, the association would strive to promote these values while working to expand the reach of chess throughout the state.
He concluded by calling for the support and cooperation of both former and current leaders, expressing optimism about the association’s future.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by outgoing NCA vice president, P. Khezhie. Outgoing honorary secretary, Mughaho Awomi, presented the secretary’s report, while outgoing treasurer, Kiyaselie Mere, shared a brief account of NCA’s financial matters. The outgoing president, Neiba Kronu, also delivered a short remark.
