Nagaland: 2 MMA fighters from state qualifies for World C’ship

Gold medallists Atokivi Chishi and Kedokietuo Sirie have qualified to participate at the World Championships under the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts and will be representing the country in their respective weight categories in Indonesia.


Six fighters training out of The Combat Academy, Nagaland participated at the recently concluded National selections for MMA and Striking MMA for the GAMMA World Championships 2024 in Indonesia under Federation of Mixed Martial Arts India and won five medals held at the Dwarka Auditorium in Bengaluru on October 5 and 6, 2024.


Out of the six participants, Atokivi Chishi, secured gold in the Bantamweight category for Striking MMA, Kedokietuo Sirie got gold in the 79kg category MMA, Tsenchio Kikon won silver in the 52kg Strawweight Striking MMA category, Sohilo Yimkhiung secured bronze in the 70kg division, Thanmi Angkang secured the silver medal in the 61.2 kg division, while Wungvamsem Raman had to forfeit due to an injury after he won his first bout in the 65.8kg MMA selections.
