Under the guidance of Ministry of Home Affairs, the Director General of Assam Rifles has undertaken an initiative to train the directly recruited sub inspectors of IRB battalions raised across the length and breadth of the country.
Informing this in a release, major Pallab Choudhury, PRO, IGAR (N) said as part of the initiative, training of 22 sub inspectors of Goa state commenced at Zunheboto on October 16 by 27 Assam Rifles under headquarters 7 sector Assam Rifles.
The training will be conducted for two months on counter insurgency, jungle warfare and special weapons. Assam Rifles, the oldest para military force which is pioneer in counter insurgency operational plays an important role in training other polices forces. The Assam Rifles earlier trained three companies of 12 IRB for two month in June – July 2008 in which three officers, 10 JCOs and 360 jawans were trained in counter insurgency, jungle warfare and Commando training.
