Animal health camp at Socunoma village

College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU (I), Jalukie conducted awareness cum animal health and vaccination camp at Council Hall, Socunoma village on February 28.


A press release by Veterinary College informed that the programme was conducted by expert faculties and students under team leadership of Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, and supervision of Dean, Veterinary College, Jalukie, Dr I Shakuntala, and funded by ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar, Haryana under TSP-Fund.


A technical session was held to make farmers aware on various aspects of livestock production, health issues and management, while a series of lectures were delivered by resource persons in the awareness programme followed by farmer-scientist interaction.


Dr. Tukheswar Chutia delivered on “Importance of artificial insemination in livestock for better economic return”, while “Seasonal livestock diseases and their management”, “Scientific breeding for optimum production from farm livestock” and “Common poultry diseases and their management” were delivered by Assistant Professor, Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, Assistant Professor, Dept. of AGB, Dr. Kh. Mahesh Singh, and Assistant Professor, Dept. of VCC, Dr. Sashitola Ozukum, respectively.


A total of 61 participants attended the programme, including 49 farmers and 12 officials from college. Animal health check-up, pregnancy diagnosis, treatment and anti-rabies vaccination was carried out during the programme, where vitamins, mineral mixtures, probiotics, liver tonics, anthelmentics and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the needy farmers covering a total of 801 livestock.
