Contraband seized in Kohima

In a surprise checking operation, Nagaland Narcotics personnel on Wednesday seized 154 Kgs of 1st class Ganja worth more than Rs.1 lakh along with one vehicle. The narcotics were seized in Peducha Junction along NH 39 when the jeep, bearing number NL-01C 5175, was moving towards Dimapur from Kohima. Two persons involved in the smuggling fled from the spot when stopped by the personnel.
Interestingly, the jeep seized by the police is a permanently designed vehicle for smuggling purpose.
The roof and the mat of the jeep had extended compartments each where the substances were kept. The tool box is widely extended till the speedometer box for keeping the narcotics.
SP, Narcotics, Imcharenla commented that anyone would be ‘easily fooled’ with just an overview of the jeep. She stated that well trained narcotics personnel can detect such tactics.
The Wednesday seizure team was led by Sub Inspector, Apen Lotha, assisted by Assistant Sub Inspector, Subongla Chang, and some eleven narcotic personnel.
