Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has served an ultimatum on the state government to issue a corrigendum of notification order dated April 13, 2025 against the transfer & posting issued by the state government on Palm Sunday.
NPCC had said that the two notifications— notification No. PAR-4/6/2020/B and Notification No. PAR-4/6/2020/A—, which were issued had set a worrying precedent.
In a letter to the state chief secretary, NPCC president and MP Lok Sabha S. Supongmeren Jamir reminded that NPCC had appealed to the government to issue a corrigendum, but to no avail.
Therefore, NPCC has served a seven-day ultimatum to issue the said corrigendum.
In the event of failure to issue within the stipulated period, NPCC cautioned that the party would be compelled to resort to its own course of action to do justice to the Christians among the Nagas.
On April 14 last, NPCC had expressed serious concern over two notifications issued by the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Personnel ‘A’ Branch), department on Sunday (April 13, 2025), which happened to be Palm Sunday, a sacred day for Christians.
Congress party had claimed it was the first time the transfer orders have been issued on a Sunday in Nagaland since it attained statehood in 1963. NPCC had called upon the government to withdraw or review the two notifications and ensure that such actions did not become a trend.
