In view of the prevailing situation and as per inputs from various agencies suggesting potential threat to peace and tranquility, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Tizit Sub-Division, Mon district, has imposed a night curfew under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The order, issued by ADM Relise Sangtam, comes into immediate effect and restricts public movement from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. along the stretch from Tizit-Namtola bridge to Tekang Junction.

Further, the order prohibited– unauthorized or unlawful assembly and movement of five or more persons, whether on foot or in vehicles (including two/three-wheelers) and carrying of arms or objects that can be used as weapons, including sticks, rods, machetes (daos), and stones.

The ADM stated that the order has been enforced ex-parte due to the urgency of the situation, and will remain in force until further notice. Violators will face legal action under applicable laws, it added.

It was learnt that tension reportedly flared up along the inter-state border area in Tizit, after Assam Police allegedly apprehended a Naga youth on Monday morning.
